Notes In this painting Bonheur depicts Rocky Bear and Red Shirt, two prominent Lakota (Sioux) who performed in Buffalo Bill's Wild West. She portrayed the Indians mounted on horseback and in an idyllic landscape setting, a presentation similar to her painting of William F. Cody.
