1. Old English is the language in England from 1500 to 1000 years ago. No one uses this language anymore, but people study it for history and linguistics.
2. (informal) Old English is any English that does not sound like how we talk now. This is often used for Early Modern English (the way people talked 500 to 350 years ago).
