"If you levy a charge or a tax, you legally make people pay it." Does not get the full meaning. If someone buys something from you, you can legally make them pay the price of it. That is not a levy. A levy is when some money (not the full price of a thing) is taken from a set of all people or all people doing the same thing, like a tax -- but it might not be a tax from the government. "The levy on fuel went up this year". People need to know that that does not mean "The price of fuel went up this year." --Coppertwig 01:45, 5 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for changing it to "A levy is an extra charge on top of the basic price, usually a tax." I think the page is good now. --Coppertwig 15:21, 5 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
