Talk:usury
Notes
changeSometimes this is defined as high interest rates. This is an extremely narrow definition of usury and for the most part excludes the modern forms of exploitative moneylending, e.g. debt-based monetary policy. A slightly more general definition makes the term much more useful. AP295 (talk) 07:53, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
@Minorax: See above. It's subversive to use the definition "extremely high interest rates", because it's so narrow that it cannot be used to describe exploitative lending in its present form. Debt-based currency is exploitative regardless of the specific interest rate. I have a relevant essay on Wikiversity [1]. At the very least, a second definition should reflect the more general sense of the term. AP295 (talk) 17:30, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
