I think you got the hang of it. --Goldenburg111 (talk) 23:08, 5 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
I will look at it tomorrow or so, it's late here and sleeping time, if I forget, poke me again :-) -Barras talk 23:13, 5 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Sure, you promise you won't get mad at me, right? --Goldenburg111 (talk) 23:16, 5 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
No worries. I just did a bunch of edits to several new entries, just take a look at them. -Barras talk 11:22, 7 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm... These changes are new, by saying this, I wish to hold my autopatrol rights back and wait a little more. --Goldenburg111 (talk) 13:23, 7 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Question

Hi Barras, you recently made changes to my words I have created, thus, you have added pronunciation and IPA of UK AND USA and syllables. I would like you to tell me about this, because I don't really understand them and I can't find any sources that I can find words about IPA of UK AND USA. Thanks! --Goldenburg111 (talk) 20:49, 8 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

What actually do you want to know about IPA spelling? Maybe w:IPA is of some help for you? As there is often a different pronunciation in different countries, there are different types of IPA explaining how to pronounce a word correctly. As for the syllables it's more or less a gut feeling which usually works fine for me... -Barras talk 20:58, 8 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
You adding the pronunciation section and adding that type of information, can you tell me about that? --Goldenburg111 (talk) 21:59, 8 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Well, start reading the link from above. Also a look at en:Wiktionary:Pronunciation might be useful. No idea what else I could tell you. Just note that the English Wiktionary uses way more complex information in there pronunciation section, just compare it with what I added to the entries. -Barras talk 12:25, 9 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Adminship

I have requested. --~~Goldenburg111 20:33, 15 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

You must be kidding me. You are not yet ready for a simple patroller right and request adminship? Especially in regards of that and the fact that you apparently did not change, looking at that now it is very unlikely that you will pass. -Barras talk 20:56, 15 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
You can add a note done if you can if you want. But I will say you can sleep on a lump and this place will never change. Oh wait, you have been sleeping on a lump all this time while you are talking trash talk in my face like this. Does not look like this place is going to change for the next few years. --~~Goldenburg111 21:04, 15 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
All I can say is you are pathetic at your job here. Don't care if this will reflect on me in the future. --~~Goldenburg111 21:08, 15 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Since you are too busy being a pathetic sysop, I think you haven't seen this: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:PiRSquared17#Your_case_of_sockpuppetry --~~Goldenburg111 21:26, 15 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
I'd like to ask you to please curtail your personal attacks on Barras here. I understand that you might be frustrated by the fact that there's not many active admins and you want to help, but an admin above all should strive to be polite and civil, and you've fallen quite off the mark with that even if we don't take into account past accounts. You have to realize that while you see adminship, you appear, even from this brief snipped of conversation, not yet ready for it. I hope you consider withdrawing your application and reflect on the importance of civility and teamwork in building a collaborative dictionary which is first and foremost the goal of this project. The collaborative part is not trivial, and it cannot be built on conversations like this. Please take a step back, you are not helping anything by acting this way: not the Simple Wiktionary, nor yourself. Strongly consider taking a step back and come back tomorrow, reflect on what you're wrote, hopefully apologize to Barras and then move on. Anybody can be forgiven anything, if they made amends and do not twice fall in the same pothole. Snowolf How can I help? 21:33, 15 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Does not appear to me that I am slowly being forgiven, after being stalked out at Meta. Barras has no idea about what children are, point of views and forgiveness. Don't think you, Snowolf, would even understand my point of view. --~~Goldenburg111 21:57, 15 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hmm... you say you're not being forgiven, yet your actions on this thread, imo, show a lack of maturity and pettiness - as, it shows why people hold the view that you are unsuited as an admin. You chose to attack a widely respected user after he told you that he doesn't think you are ready for adminship and in doing so, you proved him 100% right. I think you can't lay the blame for your actions at the doorstep of others, you must show that you can take responsability for your actions and not repeat them. You clearly have shown in this thread that you are unsuited for adminship, regardless of whatever other reasons that there may be. Admins are supposed to be mature, civil, polite and sound. I think you can't really dispute that you've fallen short of what I just described in your interactions with Barras. I was sadden to see you chose not to heed my advice about taking a step back and reflecting, and that you chose not to address the main issue I see here, your personal attacks and disrespect toward a fellow editor, instead laying the supposed blame for your behavior at Barras' doorstep. Surely any observer can see that that is a misguided view of what's happening here, and all I can do is once again invite to reflect on your actions and words and show that you understand the idea of civility and collaboration, for this is not a battlefield where you duel your opponent, clad in full armor atop a shining white horse, it is a collaborative wiktionary, where you seek to work with your fellow editors to make the best dictionary possible, to spread knowledge to all and show that humans can and should collaborate together. Please, put down your lance. Snowolf How can I help? 00:28, 16 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
I am really sorry Snowolf for not listening to your comments, and I am especially sorry to Barras for attacking him. I'll withdrawn my request. I'll be holding my request back. I should have showed maturity and accept this fate. I would like to strike out my comments. --~~Goldenburg111 00:54, 16 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

An important message about renaming users

Dear Barras,

I am cross-posting this message to many places to make sure everyone who is a Wikimedia Foundation project bureaucrat receives a copy. If you are a bureaucrat on more than one wiki, you will receive this message on each wiki where you are a bureaucrat.

As you may have seen, work to perform the Wikimedia cluster-wide single-user login finalisation (SUL finalisation) is taking place. This may potentially effect your work as a local bureaucrat, so please read this message carefully.

Why is this happening? As currently stated at the global rename policy, a global account is a name linked to a single user across all Wikimedia wikis, with local accounts unified into a global collection. Previously, the only way to rename a unified user was to individually rename every local account. This was an extremely difficult and time-consuming task, both for stewards and for the users who had to initiate discussions with local bureaucrats (who perform local renames to date) on every wiki with available bureaucrats. The process took a very long time, since it's difficult to coordinate crosswiki renames among the projects and bureaucrats involved in individual projects.

The SUL finalisation will be taking place in stages, and one of the first stages will be to turn off Special:RenameUser locally. This needs to be done as soon as possible, on advice and input from Stewards and engineers for the project, so that no more accounts that are unified globally are broken by a local rename to usurp the global account name. Once this is done, the process of global name unification can begin. The date that has been chosen to turn off local renaming and shift over to entirely global renaming is 15 September 2014, or three weeks time from now. In place of local renames is a new tool, hosted on Meta, that allows for global renames on all wikis where the name is not registered will be deployed.

Your help is greatly needed during this process and going forward in the future if, as a bureaucrat, renaming users is something that you do or have an interest in participating in. The Wikimedia Stewards have set up, and are in charge of, a new community usergroup on Meta in order to share knowledge and work together on renaming accounts globally, called Global renamers. Stewards are in the process of creating documentation to help global renamers to get used to and learn more about global accounts and tools and Meta in general as well as the application format. As transparency is a valuable thing in our movement, the Stewards would like to have at least a brief public application period. If you are an experienced renamer as a local bureaucrat, the process of becoming a part of this group could take as little as 24 hours to complete. You, as a bureaucrat, should be able to apply for the global renamer right on Meta by the requests for global permissions page on 1 September, a week from now.

In the meantime please update your local page where users request renames to reflect this move to global renaming, and if there is a rename request and the user has edited more than one wiki with the name, please send them to the request page for a global rename.

Stewards greatly appreciate the trust local communities have in you and want to make this transition as easy as possible so that the two groups can start working together to ensure everyone has a unique login identity across Wikimedia projects. Completing this project will allow for long-desired universal tools like a global watchlist, global notifications and many, many more features to make work easier.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns about the SUL finalisation, read over the Help:Unified login page on Meta and leave a note on the talk page there, or on the talk page for global renamers. You can also contact me on my talk page on meta if you would like. I'm working as a bridge between Wikimedia Foundation Engineering and Product Development, Wikimedia Stewards, and you to assure that SUL finalisation goes as smoothly as possible; this is a community-driven process and I encourage you to work with the Stewards for our communities.

Thank you for your time. -- Keegan (WMF) talk 18:24, 25 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
