Template talk:adjective

No comparative or superlative forms

change

How can we change this so it works when there are no comparatives or superlatives of a word (like the adjective form of cyan)? Right now it leaves two ugly pairs of brackets in those boxes rather than leaving them empty. --Cromwellt|talk 00:12, 11 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've changed it so the template now supports taking 1, 2 or 3 parameters. If only 1 parameter is given (i.e., there is no comparative or superlative), {{adjective}} will display "none" for the two and put the word into Category:Non-comparable adjectives automaticaly. Therefore, the {{adjective2}} template is now largely defunct. - Tangotango 11:14, 24 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
I'm deleting it, then. --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 21:37, 4 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

For an adjective like impartial, there will never be entries more impartial or most impartial. This is true of all similar adjectives. Is there any template that can be used to get the adjective box without links? Also, in such a way that one wouldn't need to specify the forms, like {{adjective|more=true}}. If there isn't, and you agree for a need for it, I'll modify this template accordingly. --rimshottalk 08:56, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Not that I know of. Go ahead and modify!--Brett 11:50, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Simpler words than "Comparative" and "Superlative"

change

In simple English style, shouldn't we use words like "big"-"bigger"-"biggest" or something instead of "Positive"-"Comparative"-"Superlative"? --Mattsains (talk) 15:52, 7 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Return to "adjective" page.
